The Greek god Hades could be quite a moody and dreary fellow at times but was quite well-suited for the position that he held, ruler of the Underworld (which was the realm of the sleeping and the dead. He was also called "The Rich One" for his domain included the treasures of the unconscious mind.   : : : : : :    Dionysus was the Greek god of ecstacy, and a charismatic leader even though he was known for his tendency to excess. A motherless child, Dionysus had a difficult youth but eventually proved his mettle and got the recognition that he deserved.   : : : : : : :    Warrior by trade, Ares, Greek god of war, didn't always win, but he always enjoyed the fight.  : : : : : : :    Apollo, Greek god of light, a rational man who brought order and logic to the Pantheon. All things civilized were part of his domain.    : : : : : : :   How much talent can one man have? The Greek god of the Forge had it all. Recognizing the talent of Hephaestus, who was an artist and craftsman as well as an inventor, he was welcomed home to Mount Olympus after he had proved his worth. Yet he wasn't lucky in love.   : : : : : :   As was befitting the Greek god of commerce and communication, the clever god Hermes was quite a charmer, making friends and mending fences everywhere he went. And he did go places! As the messenger of Zeus, he was usually on the scene when any action was underway.    : : : : : :  Poseidon, Greek god of the ocean, was quite an ambitious god and had a strong drive to succeed (not to mention a temper that proved his assertiveness). Mess with him and you might find your land flooded!   : : : : : :    Zeus, with his brothers, helped wrest control from the Titans and then became the ruler of the Olympian gods and goddesses. A powerful ruler, he was a god who knew what he wanted and went after it!    : : : : : :
