To God and Goddess

Hephaestus, master craftsman, superb artisan, and talented inventor, overcame his disability and earned his place among the gods. Unfortunately he never won the heart of his wife, the lovely Aphrodite.   : : : : : :   Aphrodite's lover was Ares, the Greek god of war . . . not the best-loved guy in the Greek pantheon for he was often quite hot-headed and often lost in battle, but he was always ready for a good fight!    : : : : : : :    The Greek god Dionysus was the Greek god of ecstacy, a wildly charismatic type. Wherever he appeared, the ladies would follow. Needless to say he created quite a stir wherever he went. After winning the heart of the world, he returned to take his place on Mount Olympus with the other gods and goddesses that Zeus had fathered.   : : : : : : :      Zeus was chosen to be the sky god (and therefore the rule of the Olympian gods and goddesses) after the Titans fell from power. He populated the pantheon with his numerous children, those from his marriage and the gods, goddesses, and heroes born of his affairs with mortal women. Zeus was a god that knew how to wield power!    : : : : : :   The Greek god Hades was perfectly suited to be the ruler of the Underworld, that realm that was home to the sleeping and the dead....moody and dour, he had little desire to be involved with earthly affairs.  : : : : : :   The golden god Apollo who was the Greek god of light, gave us the "Golden Mean", a reminder to seek balance in our lives. Science, the arts, logic, and athleticism were important to this god.  : : : : : :    A charming and clever lad was the Greek god Hermes. . . no wonder he was named to be the god of commerce and communication. As the official messenger of Zeus, he managed to play a role in many of the events recorded in Greek mythology.    : : : : : :  Mighty Poseidon, trident in hand, muscular legs spanning the ocean waves. This Greek god of the ocean, was a force to be reckoned with!  : : : : : :
