To God and Goddess

The tumultuous Poseidon, Greek god of the Sea, could be rather temperamental. An ambitious god, he was an important figure in Greek mythology, constantly carving out territory to call his own.   : : : : : :    Zeus became the ruler of the Olympian gods and goddesses after the fall of the Titans. With his wife, Hera, (and plenty of other ladies as well....Zeus was known as being very amorous and not that faithful), he was father to many of the gods, goddesses, and heroes.    : : : : : :   Ares, Greek god of war, was a fighting man. Often absent while off fighting battles, he still had time to become Aphrodite's lover. Ares much preferred hand to hand combat over strategic planning, consequently he became rather familiar with failure.    : : : : : : :    Associated with reason and civilization, Apollo, the Greek god of light, was a man of reason and moderation. Artemis, his twin, was the Greek goddess associated with the wild and, together, they had some fine adventures. : : : : : : :   The wildest god, Dionysus, the Greek god of ecstacy, was quite an adventurer. He became a powerful leader before returning from his travels to take his place among the Olympians.   : : : : : : :    Known as "The Rich One", the Greek god Hades was the ruler of the Underworld, and rarely participated in earthly matters.   : : : : : :    Hephaestus, Greek god of the forge was a talented craftsman, an artisan, and a masterful inventor. Though Hephaestus was cast out of Olympus as an infant because of a birth defect, he eventually so impressed everyone that they begged him to return to the home of the gods.   : : : : : :   Charming, playful, clever and resourceful, Hermes, the Messenger god, was Zeus' trusted ally. A masterful communicator, Hermes is also considered to be the God of Commerce.   : : : : : :
